EN 12952 "Water tube boilers and auxiliary installations" and
EN 12953 "Shell boilers" series of standards have been prepared by CEN/TC 269 "Shell and water-tube boilers" under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (PED).
Compliance with the clauses of these standards given in Annex ZA of each part confers, within the limits of the scope of these standards, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding Essential Requirements of the PED.
